Can I Play Pal Wii Games On Ntsc Softmod
Comments
- #2The easiest way would be to get hold of a Freeloader gamecube disk, although I'm not sure if they're readily available any more. eBay's probably your best bet.

Is this the right one? It says Gamecube (no mention of wii) but the disk seems too big on the picture. - #4Mate get FREELOADER the greatest thing ever! Also to get one just go to amazon.co.uk and then type in freeloader on the search bar an then click on the used and new icon and you can get one from CLEARANCE-GAMES for £6.95 + £1.99 p&p
It is easy to get one! I had to buy a new one a couple of months ago after my other one broke. - #50
- #6Cheers, thanks for the info just to say though that the disk in that photo looks to big to fit in the gamecube
The game I want to play by the way. http://cgi.ebay.com/Fairy-Odd-Parents-Breakin-Da-Rules-Gamecube_W0QQitemZ160223052897QQihZ006QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It my kind of thing, ok But it's not released outside the US and I was going to get the PC version (but I was then informed elsewhere that's totally different and not as good) - #7Got my freeloader, now I havn't yet had the main NTSC title I bought it for yet arrive (Fairly Odd Parents - Breakin Da Rulzes) coming from the US it will take a few weeks.
but I bought a NTSC copy of F-Zero X (from a UK seller on ebay) so I would have something to test the freeloader with in the meantime. I've already got a problem it works but as soon you get to the 'select your vechile' screen. It just goes black (music carries on) I can live with that. I'll just get a PAL copy at a later date (was going to just buy this game anyway) but I just hope the fairly odd parents game works when it comes. It really better had  - #8I cant remember now if F-Zero x had the update on the disc that disabled the Freeloader - I know mindbendo eventually found a way to disable the use of it on the GC's
If not, I remember the early versions of Freeloader (1.4's) had some compatibility issues with games and Datel releaed a 1.6 version.
You can tell what version you have by turning the disc over and looking at the data side and in the middle you'll see some text like 'Thin Ice Media' or something and then a version number. - #9You using a SCART? Not sure about playing NTSC through a composite on a PAL TV. Your TV can handle NTSC?
- #10It's version 1.4
But i'll hang on and wait for the Fairly Odd game to arrive and see if that will work with this 1.4 version before I jump and waste money.
No problem. It works anyway at first just up until the select screen.0 - #11Good that serves you right! I see you never listened to me! Why the hell did you listen to that idiot who said goto ebay and not me when I told you to goto Amazon.co.uk where you could have bought a brand new up to date disc that would have worked ALL your games and was 5POUNDS cheaper than on ebay! I have hardly any trouble with my games since I bought my GAMECUBE Freeloader disc 2 months ago! It also works on the Wii better than my old one! I could tell right away that they had changed it because on the new disc there is an advertisment for Action Replay and the change disc screen is different.
How old is your TV? You need a TV that can run 60Hzt and it works fine through SCART or composite as I have used both!
I HAVE BEEN USING FREELOADER FOR 5 YEARS SO LISTEN TO ME!
Also just where the hell are you getting your games from? I got Soul Calibur 2 from the US and it arrived in 4 DAYS about the same for Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rebel Strike! - #12why not look for an ntsc gamecube, i'm sure they'll be some on ebay.
- #13I think you can ascertain from his posts that his tv is fine as it displays the game properly it just has issues when he goes to select his ship / car whatever you want to call it.
I've never known of a non compatible tv that will decide it wants to bugger up and not display something when it gets to a certain part of the game - its either all or nothing. - #14yes i think that issue is more withe the game not being compatible with the version of freeloader the op has.

Calm down please. Read everything I say before having a go at me. I have no big interest in importing massive amounts of frigon games I just want this one. If that works with the older version of freeloader I have bought that will do me fine, and I didn't buy it from ebay I bought it from playtrade actully. - #16UPDATE: I now have the updated gamecube feeeloader disc and can now play both my NTSC games perfectly.
However I am buying a wii a week on friday and therefore will be trying to work out a way of playing them on that. Would really rather not have to keep the GC set up as well. - #17I dont think you can use it on the Wii the Freeloader disc (the GC version of it obviously, not the new Wii version)
- #18Bump again. for playing NTSC gamecube games on a PAL wii I 'think' this is the right one.
http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/GCN-Freeloader---PAL__EF000198.aspx
I have had word from a co-worker that the wii freeloader only works with import 'wii' and not 'gamecube' games. - #19Jumbo_Holden please listen to me! Well I told you to buy that one origionally didn't I!!! But OH no you went to play.com and bought the origional didn't you! So I dont know whether or not I am just wasting my breath with you here but the fact is, YOU DO NOT NEED IT!!! IT IS STILL VERSION 1.0 THE SAME AS THE ONE YOU HAVE GOT! I should know I have got the box!
All it means on the front of the box is that you can use it on the GC section of the Wii! Nothing else! THE ONE YOU HAVE GOT IS FINE! Mine worked on the Wii before I had to buy a new one because my old disc cracked!
And a little tip to everybody, DO NOT FOR F*** SAKE EVER EVER EVER USE CODEJUNKIES! THEY ARE THE BIGGEST F***** UP COMPANY ON THE PLANET!
I ordered their crappy CD/DVD repairer on the 3rd of MARCH (03/03/08) and after 2 phone calls and 9 1/2 WEEKS it arrived yesterday! I dont know what they were playing at! I got mine from www.amazon.co.uk - #20Wii tomorrow and order dispatched from codejunkies.I dont think you can use it on the Wii the Freeloader disc (the GC version of it obviously, not the new Wii version)
I got version 1.6B from amazon and as said it now works on the gamecube but not when I tried it on my friends friend's wii on tuesday, neither did it work when I tried his wii freeloader with it. You have to buy the 'wii' compatible gamecube freeloader he said. (as did a co-worker). The one I've got coming from codejunkies is the right one.
Oh and the disc swap trick as seen on youtube no longer works. - #21SUCESS at long last!
I bought 2 import games from ebay and then got a freeloader from playtrade it turned out to be version 1.4 and it didn't work so I went on amazon and bought another which was version 1.6b and that worked.
Then I went and got a wii and tried the 1.6 version and it wouldn't work on the wii. So went to gamejunkies and bought the 'wii compatible' gamecube freeloader (totally ignoring someone abussive 'listen to me I know it all' Private messages) and thanks to going on my own gut I have sucess both the NTSC gamecube games work perfectly on my new pal wii. I'm a happy chappy. Only my original first move was a wrong one.
